Policeman Abducts, Brutalises 8-year-old Girl in Ketu, Lagos (Photo)

Residents of Olufowobi Street, Ketu, Lagos, were thrown into confusion after an eight-year-old girl, Amarachi Abakwam, was found tied up and brutalised under the bed of a policeman attached to Police Mobile Force 22.
PUNCH Metro reports that the policeman, Augustine Gbuchenge, with Force number 400823, lived in the same compound with Amarachi’s family.

The father of the victim, Patrick, told PUNCH Metro that on the fateful day he had been looking everywhere for his daughter until they discovered her under Gbuchenge’s bed.
Patrick said:

“Last Thursday, I returned from work around 7.30pm and met my children and wife outside. There was power failure on that day so everywhere was dark. I asked after Amarachi but my wife said she was probably in our apartment sleeping. 

I was not satisfied with this explanation because my children don’t usually sleep early.
When I went up, I did not see my daughter so we started asking around. Some little children in the compound then told me that Gbuchenge had called my daughter earlier to help him buy akara. 

I went to the policeman’s room to challenge him but he denied seeing my daughter so we continued looking everywhere. After sometime, the whole compound got involved in the search and all clues pointed to the policeman.”Continue..

Women to stage one-million march in Abuja over abducted girls

Nigerian women would on Wednesday April 30th in Abuja stage a one-million-women march tagged "Free our girls" to press for the release of the schoolgirls that were abducted from Girls Government college in Chibok, Borno state on Monday April 14th.

 

The call for the protest was made during an emergency meeting put together by the Borno state first lady, Hajia Nana Kashim Shettima, yesterday. Coordinator of the protest Prof. Hauwa Abdu Biu said the march is expected to involve every woman in the country.

"The last time, we were in black but this time around the colour for the Abuja rally is red; so we should all be prepared and mobilize ourselves for the rally”, she said

Earlier on at the meeting, the first lady amids sobs called on all women to join in efforts to free the abducted girls and also called on wives of heads of Security agents, some of whom were present at the meeting to help plead with their spouses to intensify their efforts in the search for the girls.Continue..

Jay Z and Beyonce are planning the joint summer tour to end all tours. The power couple announced today that the 16 day tour will kick off June 25 in Miami and will end August 5th in San Francisco.

According to the announcement, pre-sale tickets will be made available for Beyonce fan club members and Chase credit card holders on 4/29/14 at Ticketmaster.

$1 from each ticket sold and a portion of the proceeds from the Chase VIP Ticket Package will be donated to the Shawn Carter Foundation. Tickets for the general public will go on sale May 2 on LiveNation.

Woman kills her own new born child because he looked like her ex-boyfriend

18-year-old Ana Rosa Mora (pictured above) has been arrested for killing her own child because the the new born looked like her ex-boyfriend. Ana wrapped her baby in a bag and left him outside to die because she feared the child looked like her ex-boyfriend and her current boyfriend would leave her.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the teen gave birth last weekend and attended school on Monday after allegedly committing the act and even showed staff members pictures of a newborn girl that she claimed she downloaded from the Internet.

But after employees noticed strange behavior - such as the girl asking if authorities could link her to the child through DNA and lying about the baby's age - they alerted authorities. Continue...

Vatican Declares Popes John Paul II And John XXIII Saints

Pope Francis has declared two of his predecessors, John Paul II and John XXIII, saints of the Roman Catholic church.

During the official proclamation at about 10.15am today, Pope Francis paid tribute to "two men of courage" who he said had "co-operated with the Holy Spirit in renewing and updating the church". He said:

"We declare and define Blessed John XXIII and John Paul II to be saints and we enrol them among the saints, decreeing that they are to be venerated as such by the whole church. They were priests, bishops and popes of the 20th century. They lived through the tragic events of that century, but they were not overwhelmed by them.Continue...

How businessman just walked out of his house and vanished in Lagos

Eleven months after a promising businessman, Mr Emmanuel Uchenna Okoye left his Lagos home, no one seems to know whether he is dead or alive. While the family believes that Okoye, who until his disappearance, shuttled between Nigeria and Spain as well as China from where he imported spare parts must have died, security agents, especially the Department of State Security, DSS, argue that they have evidence the businessman is still alive.

His wife, 27-year-old Mrs. Grace Obayuzo Okoye is yet to accept the reality of what might have befallen her husband since he left their Iyana Isashi, Lagos home since May 23, 2013.
According to Sun ,to compound her anguish, the Ebira woman from Kogi State, said she was two months pregnant when he vanished. She was delivered of a baby girl on December 23 last year while the baby died three weeks ago. As the stress of searching for her husband is already taking its toll on Grace, she is faced on another front by in-laws the battle to dispossess her of her husband’s property.

Man Attempts to Kill Woman He Got Pregnant During a One-Night Stand by Blowing Her Up (Photos)

According to DailyMail, this 36 year old Chinese man pictured above, kidnapped his pregnant 21-year-old girlfriend, tied a gas tank to her back and ignited it when police turned up to try and rescue her. But he is right now fighting for his life alongside his girlfriend in a Chinese hospital after he too was caught up in the blast. Surgeons are battling to save their lives but, despite the mother-to-be's horrific injuries, her unborn baby managed to survive.

Yes! magazine replies Harrysong, insists he did say his parents are siblings

Yes! Magazine quoted singer Harrysong as saying his parents are siblings in an interview with them a while back. Harrysong released a statement some days ago denying he ever made the comment. The magazine editors have now released their own statement insisting that he did say it.

Our attention has been drawn to a very disparaging comment from Harrysong, an up and coming artiste over an interview we conducted with him at Kcee's Omole Phase 2, Ikeja, Lagos home. 

As a responsible medium, Yes International! had wanted to ignore him and his deliberate act of mischief. But on a second thought, we decided otherwise, because in our considered opinion, it will be suicidal to disregard the young man's insinuations and cheap blackmail. 'Don't bring black people to my games' Clippers owner caught making shocking racist rant

L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling was caught on tape making shocking racist comments to his bi-racial girlfriend after she posted a pic of herself with basketball legend Magic Johnson on her instagram page and it was all caught on tape.

L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling told his girlfriend he does not want her bringing black people to his games ... including Magic Johnson ... and it's all on tape. TMZ Sports has obtained audio of Sterling making the racist declaration during a heated argument on April 9th with V. Stiviano ... after she posted a photo on Instagram posing with Magic. Sterling rails on Stiviano -- who ironically is black and Mexican -- for putting herself out in public with a black person (she has since taken the pic down).  But it doesn't end there.  You have to listen to the audio to fully grasp the magnitude of Sterling's racist worldview.

Sterling tells his grilfriend

"It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you’re associating with black people. Do you have to?" (3:30) -- "You can sleep with [black people]. You can bring them in, you can do whatever you want.  The little I ask you is not to promote it on that ... and not to bring them to my games." (5:15)-- "I’m just saying, in your lousy f******* Instagrams, you don’t have to have yourself with, walking with black people." (7:45)-- "...Don't put him [Magic] on an Instagram for the world to have to see so they have to call me.  And don't bring him to my games." (9:13) 

Sterling has a documented history of allegedly racist behavior -- he's been sued twice by the federal government for allegedly refusing to rent apartments to Blacks and Latinos. He was also sued by former Clippers exec Elgin Baylor for racial discrimination -- though a jury was ultimately not convinced and shot down Baylor's case.  Sterling has been separated from his wife Shelly for years.  She remains a key player in running the team and sources tell us she's "mortified" by Sterling's comments.We have made several calls to Sterling and his people ... so far, no word back.

South Korean PM resigns over ferry disaster that claimed 300 lives

South Korean Prime Minister, Chung Hong-won, this morning Sunday April 27th announced his resignation 11 days after a ferry carrying school children on a field trip to the island of Jeju capsized and sank, killing over 300 people.
PM Hong-won made the announcement at an emergency news conference that held in the country's capital, Seoul, early this morning, days after his government was fiercely criticized about how it responded to the disaster. The PM took responsibility for the slow response of the rescue operation..

"I offer my apology for having been unable to prevent this accident from happening and unable to properly respond to it afterwards. I believed I, as the prime minister, certainly had to take responsibility and resign." the PM said.

The captain and all crew members of the ship rescued themselves leaving 300 school children, teachers and other passengers to their fate. They have all since been arrested and facing charges ranging from criminal negligence to abandoning passengers. The confirmed death toll as of today is 187, while the rest are still missing and presumed dead.
