Cristiano Ronaldo Parades His Ballon d’Or Trophy In Front Of Fans

Days after winning World Player of the Year in 2013, Cristiano Ronaldo celebrated it again when he paraded the Ballon d’Or trophy in front of the club’s fans before their match at home to Granada on Saturday. Ronaldo beat off stiff competition from Barcelona rival and four-time winner Lionel Messi and Bayern Munich’s treble-winning playmaker Franck Ribery to collect the prize for the second time in his career on January 13, and got the award from Pele himself.

The Portuguese was greeted by a huge gold mosaic displayed by the 85,000 fans in attendance at the Santiago Bernabeu with “CR7” written in black letters. He had said about Pele giving him this award “He, Pele was a legend of football and to be mentioned next to him for the Ballon d’Or was an unbelievable feeling. I cannot expect a better night than this one even in my dreams,”

It was Ronaldo’s day indeed with team mates supporting him as he shows off his trophy, it is a dream come true for him and his club fans did not disappoint by showing up in mass.

‘He deserves it’ said Xabi Alonso of Ronaldo’s Ballon d’Or success. ‘It was nice for him to share the moment with the rest of the team.’
