Happier times: Gibson and Oksana pictured in Los Angeles in 2010 |
The battery conviction top Hollywood
actor/director/producer Mel Gibson caught for hitting his ex-girlfriend
Oksana Grigorieva in January 2010 is about to be erased from his record.
RadarOnline.com reports that the
Passion of Christ director has
the wheels in motion to appear in a Los Angeles courtroom this month,
where he will petition the court to expunge his no contest plea to the
misdemeanor charge from his record.
58-year-old Mel Gibson was charged with battery in 2010 for hitting
then-girlfriend, Grigorieva, and even confessed to the beating in court
documents, stating, 'I slapped Oksana one time with an open
hand in an attempt to bring her back to reality.'
Gibson’s legal team say Mel has fulfilled all of the requirements asked
of him in the wake of the March 2011 plea, including three years of
probation, 16 hours of community service, a fine, a year of counseling,
and maintenance of peace with Grigorieva, the mother of his 4-year-old
daughter, Lucia.
The hearing is set for later this month. The judge will allow Mel to
withdraw his plea, the case will be dismissed and his criminal record
will be expunged.
