Premier League: David Moyes confident of turning Manchester United around

David Moyes claims to see shoots of optimism at Manchester United and is confident their season will soon be back on track.
It has been a testing campaign for the Scot - his first in the Old Trafford hot-seat since agreeing to succeed the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson.
Demoralising setbacks have been suffered on an alarmingly regular basis, with home performances in particular offering cause for concern.
A reversal on the road at Sunderland on Tuesday was United's third in succession, with Premier League, FA Cup and Capital One Cup headaches being endured.

The one crumb of comfort for the Red Devils is that they have made steady progress in the UEFA Champions League, but Moyes remains confident that domestic fortunes will improve while there is still time to put things right.
The Scot said in the Daily Mirror: "I've been here before and done it before.
"I just sense it's on the verge of turning, that we're about to get a bit better. You need a bit of good fortune to go for you, and it looks as if we're not getting enough of that at the moment.
"I can sense in the dressing room that there's an urge to fight our current position.
"It's part of football management. It's never going to be an easy ride.
"To be the manager of Manchester United is a big challenge, whether it's on the back of wins or defeats."
Which areas do Manchester United most need to focus on in the January transfer window?
  • Defence
  • Midfield
  • Attack
  • All of the above
